Brisa do Mar
Brisa do Mar, better known to locals as Pop’s Place, is a colourful, no-frills waterfront restaurant at Caracasbaai, right where the fishing boats bob at their moorings along the Caracasbaaiweg. Its wooden terrace sits directly on the water, so every table comes with sea views, a steady breeze and front-row seats to island life. The menu is pure Curaçao: freshly grilled fish of the day, hearty stoba (local stew), funchi and other Creole classics, served in generous portions at friendly prices. Ice-cold Brasa beer and tropical cocktails make it an easy stop after snorkelling the Tugboat or a day at nearby Jan Thiel. Locals and visitors share the long tables in a lively, relaxed atmosphere, with live music often on Monday evenings. Come hungry and in beach clothes — this is authentic, unpretentious island dining at its best.
de Visboer
De Visboer is a laid-back seafood restaurant on the Caracasbaaiweg, just before Caracasbaai and a short drive from Jan Thiel. The concept is refreshingly simple: pick your fish from the day’s fresh catch behind the glass counter — yellowfin tuna, red snapper, grouper, mahi mahi, shrimp or lobster — and have it grilled, pan-fried in butter or served sashimi-style, with fries or funchi on the side. Tables sit by the water, where you can watch local fishermen land their boats while you eat. Rib-eye steak is on the menu for those who prefer turf to surf, and the tuna sashimi is a house favourite. Service is relaxed and friendly, prices are fair, and the vibe is more fish-shack-done-right than formal dining. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 5 pm (Sunday also for lunch); larger groups should book ahead.
